There are so many poker chips to choose from! How are you supposed to decide on one poker chip set? We are here to help!

How many poker chips are needed?

In a second, you are going to kick yourself for ever asking this question! It’s just simple math folks! You take the number of people passed out in your poker group, times the number of cocktails each person drank, multiplied by the total pounds of sour kraut eaten, multiplied by the number of warts in plain sight and then finally divided by the average nose length in inches... Did you get all that? Do you need me to go through that one more time? ;-)

If the numbers didn’t seem to work out for you, then let’s try another method. The required number of poker chips can be figured using the number of people who will be partaking in your poker club. An easy thing to remember is to have a minimum of 35 poker chips for each player and if you can afford it, 50 to 100 poker chips for each player is dreamy. If your group is say 3 to 4 people, you will do fine with 300+ poker chips. If your poker tournament is going to be 5 to 6 people, you will want 400+ poker chips. If your poker party will be 7+ people, you will likely want 500+ poker chips. Make certain you get plenty of poker chips to keep your friends happy when they get hungry and realize you forgot to pick up some food.

The best style of poker chips for you?

Without a doubt, we would go with Jays, Old Dutch, or the generic brand. If you seek greasy fingers and a fat stomach…then you cannot go wrong with any of these. Huh? Oh, you wanted to talk about poker chips. Silly me, I thought you wanted to learn about potato chips. Did you realize that they make potato chips out of the same materials used in poker chips?

If you just have to recreate the casino in your home, then you must get your hands on some clay poker chips. Clay poker chips are the most expensive poker chips but they will bring an authenticity to your poker game that the other poker chips simply cannot. If you don’t want to spend that much, you could go with composite clay poker chips. Composite clay poker chips offer you the look and feel of casino poker chips without the cost. If you are new to the game of poker or on a budget, then you may want to begin with plastic poker chips. Plastic poker chips are the least expensive poker chips while still offering you the feel of casino poker.

One thing you have to be aware of is that there are going to be some variations in poker chip denominations. Some of the time you will see green chips played as $20 chips but this guide reflects the accepted chip values for each poker chip color.

Seventy percent of the poker chips should be the lower and middle poker chip values when dealing with a a four-color poker chip bank roll .

In a 400 poker chip set you will normally find either 100 White chips, 200 Red chips, 50 Green chips, and 50 Black chips or 150 White chips, 150 Red chips, 50 Green chips, and 50 Black chips.
